The Calico Rock Progress
March 11, 1955

William David Napier, aged 70, died at his home four miles north of Calico Rock, Thursday morning, March 3.
Funeral services were held at Galatia Church, Saturday, the Rev. Charles Casteel, pastor of Calico Rock Methodist Church conducting the services. Burial was in Galatia Cemetery with the Hall Funeral Service in charge.
Mr. Napier was a native of Kentucky. He was married to Miss Vesta Langdon. the made theri home in Kentucky until 1931 when they moved to Arizona. From Arizona they came to this locality about a year ago and settled in the Pleasant Valley community where they built a new home. Mr. Napier was regarded as one of the finest neighbors in the community. He was interested in farming and showed particular interest in bee culture. As a citizen of Arizona, he served as apiary inspector for that state.
Mr. Napier was a veteran of World War I and served in France and England.
Surviving are four sons, Earl, Ashford and Sam of the home, and Robert who is stationed at Los Crusas, New Mexico. One son, Billy Napier was killed in an air crash in 1954, while serving with the US Air Corps. Also surviving are five daughers, Ruby, Betty, Glenda and Chloe of the home, and Ellen of Ohio. One daughter preceded him in death. He has 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; 8 sisters and 5 brothers.
