W. Brown McSpadden, well known resident of Bentonville, died shortly before noon Sunday, following a stroke of paralysis earlier that morning. He was 72 years of age. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church Monday afternoon, the pastor, Rev. W.E. White, conducting the service. The funeral was largely attended. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Burial was made in the Oakley Chapel cemetery. Mr. McSpadden had been in comparatively good health. On Sunday morning he went as usual to the neighbors after milk but at the breakfast table was stricken. The end came a few hours afterwards. Mr. McSpadden was born near Peirce City, Mo. in 1860 and came to Benton County with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Thos. McSpadden. They located on a farm just south of Oakley Chapel. Shortly after his marriage to Miss Lewis he moved to Bentonville where he engaged in business. He operated a livery stable for about 35 years that stood in the location now owneed by Kerr & Callison. He also bought horses and mules for a number of years. Mr. and Mrs. McSpadden celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year. Besides his widow he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. E.P. Knott of this city and Mrs. Harry Long of Twin falls, Idaho; also by three brothers, Milton and Cal of Tulsa and Cole McSpadden of Rogers, and by a sister, Mrs. R.S. Sikes of Gentry.
