SKIDMORE, Joseph - The community was sadly surprised at the death of Joseph Skidmore last Friday the 5th at 7 o'clock p.m. at his home 5
miles south of the city. He had been ill for two or three weeks but was not thought to be seriously so by his neighbors but it became necessary to perform a surgical operation on account of an abscess formed on the stomach
which was done in the morning of the above date, resulting in his death as stated. The remains were interred at the Hart cemetery Saturday. Deceased was 64 years old and had been a citizen of Benton county for many years.
He was a prosperous farmer and fruit grower and was highly respected. His death will be a loss to the community and to the widow and several children which are left.
