This grave was originally marked by a very thin limestone rock with the name scratched into the rock. The rock had been broken into three pieces. Upon examination of the rock, it at first appeared that the inscription was Vera Merrell, and the cemetery association placed a new marker at the gravesite. Later, the three pieces of the old gravstone were glued together and upon closer examination, it became obvious that the name was Evert, not Vera. The original rock that has been glued together stands behind the newer mis-labeled marker. No more information is know about Evert Merrell.
