Services for John Van Knight, 93, of Mt. Home are scheduled for 10AM Saturday at Roller Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. John McCormack and Marvin Duggins will officiate and interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Buford.
Visitation for Mr. Knight, who died Tuesday at Baxter Manor, will be at the chapel on State Highway 5 North from 9AM to 9PM today (Thursday) and tomorrow and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Friday.
A native of this area, Mr. Knight was born at Buford July 7, 1886, to the late Jim and Nancy Savage Knight. He lived in that community for most of his life and farmed there until retiring 11 years ago. On Sep 2, 1907, he married to the former Martha Daisy Smith, who died in 1972. Mr. Knight was a longtime member of the Fairview Church at Buford.
Survivors include three daughters, Hazel Duggins of Mr. Home, Ida Lou Arthur of Chilowee, MO, and Lessie Thompson of Lees Summit, MO; three sisters, Willie Miller and Annie Tilley of CA and Margaret Watts of Gooding ID; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Two sons and a daughter are deceased.
Estel Duggins, E.J. Duggins, Buddy Duggins, Garry Duggins, Ray Knight and Ronnie Arthur will serve as pallbearers at Saturday's service. Honorary pallbearers will be staff members and employees of Baxter Manor.
