ROGERS — George Edward Whitaker, 22, of Rogers died Oct. 26, 1999, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born March 15, 1977, in Fayetteville to Ronald P. and Muria L. Beaver Whitaker. He was a 1995 graduate of Springdale High School and a member of the SHS band. He played soccer and roller hockey. He was a sergeant in B1 142nd FA of the Arkansas National Guard, where he was selected soldier of the year for his unit in 1997. He was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol, the Northwest Arkansas Galted Horse Club and the Springdale Riding Club and Oak Grove Riding Club. He enjoyed computers and drawing. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springdale and attended Charity Baptist Church in Rogers.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Whitaker of the home; one son, Zachery Ryan Whitaker of Camp Lejeune, N.C.; one stepson, Alex Self of the home; one stepdaughter, Kasee Self of the home; his parents of Springdale; one brother, Weston Wellsley Walker of New Orleans, La.; paternal grandmother, Elma H. Whitaker of Springdale; his stepgrandfather, Don Huenefeld of Goshen.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Farmington Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel of Fayetteville. The Rev John Nauman and Capt. Wesley Hillard will officiate.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to noon today at Moore's.
