Roger M. Clinton, owner of a Hot Springs, Arkansas, Buick dealership, married Virginia Cassidy Blythe June 1950 in Hot Springs and became the stepfather of William Jefferson "Bill" Blythe III. Mrs. Blythe's first husband William Jefferson Blythe, Jr., had died in an automobile accident before young William was born. In 1956 Roger and Virginia became the parents of Bill's half-brother Roger Clinton, Jr. Bill legally changed his surname to Clinton in 1962. William Jefferson "Bill" Clinton served as Governor of Arkansas in 1979-1981 and 1983-1992, then President of the United States 1993-2001, after the death of his stepfather.
