Our beloved Daddy and Papaw, Chris Ferguson “Ferg” Hansen, 84, of Norphlet, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Magnolia Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born on April 3, 1931 in Three Creeks, Arkansas to George S. and Cecil Maude Woolsey Hansen.
Ferg married Martha Irene Greer Hansen on July 22, 1949. He was employed at Long’s roofing and Sheet Metal nearly his whole adult life, 55 years, and then worked for Long Bros Oil Company.
Ferg was a family man. He always had a garden and shared his crops with family and friends. He loved turkey hunting and thoroughly enjoyed deer hunting with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and delighted in having his whole family together at the camp in Felsenthal, so they could all go fishing.
He took pleasure in sharing his catch with his coworkers/friends where they would have a big ole fish fry at Long Bros shop. He worked with, hunted with, and fished with these men for over 60 years, and they became like another family to him.
Ferg was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers, Clarence Hansen and Jerry Hansen; and one sister, Mary Beck.
He is survived by one son, Ronald Hansen (Diane); one daughter, Dianne Kegley (James) all of Norphlet; three grandsons, Chris Hansen, Timmy Hansen (Julie), Kevin Hansen (Emily); two granddaughters,
Wendy Bain (Todd) and Mandy Bishop (Tim); eighteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Though is legacy will live on, he will be truly missed.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Young’s Funeral Directors.
Services will be at Young’s Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 with Bro. Gerald Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
The family will receive visitors at the Kegley residence, 200 Fletcher Rd, in Norphlet, AR. (Young's Funeral Home - El Dorado, Arkansas)
