William F. "Bill" Baker, 78, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Corps in the 31st Bombardment Squadron in the Pacific, managed Safeway for 18 years and was owner of Baker's Quik Pick.

He was a member of Goddard United Methodist Church, the Elks and Kiwanis.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in Goddard United Methodist Church with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; two daughters, Connie Moore and Maurine Baker, both of Fort Smith; two sons, Bill Baker of Denver and Rick Baker of Fort Smith; a brother, A.L. Baker of Memphis, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bill, Rick, Maxwell and Terry Baker, Jason Moore, Dicky Zellers, Jerry Bridges and Paul Rivaldo.
