Karen Ann Shoate was the daughter of Anistyne Jones Shoate and Kenneth Shoate. She attended school at Howard Elementary School, Darby Junior High School and Northside High School and graduated class of 1992. She was a member of Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church and belong to the Quinn Chapel YPD. She was employed as a nurses Aide at the Brownwood Life Care Center. She also belong to the Phyllis Wheatley Junior Federated Club.
