Joe Covin Jr. of DeSoto, TX departed earthly life August 18 in Austin TX from cardiac failure. Joe was 46, bringing sunshine since 1970. He is now in the heavenly places.
He was preceded in death by father Joe Covin Sr. His maternal grandparents Roosevelt and Mable McClendon. Joe’s paternal grandparents John and Mercy Covin McGowan. Joe leaves to mourn his mother, Imogene McClendon Covin.

He is survived by wife Ykeena Miller Covin. Children J’Nya Cymone and Joe III; also Keenan and Demetris Benton. Sisters: Calandra and Anna of Dallas, TX, Juanita of Fort Smith, AR. Nephews and Nieces: Devorin, Katrina, Catrisha, Jovanie, Iesha, A’Nia, George; Shawtia, DonYa, Cornelius, TraNay; And SyAnna. Cousins: McClendon, Covin, Gordon, Burns and and Jones. In laws Mr. and Mrs. Miller.

Joe attended public schools of Sebastian County, Arkansas. Later attending college and playing basketball. Joe began at Central Baptist College, Conway, Arkansas. Joe then-received a scholarship to Univ. of Missouri from the church. He then continued thru Bachelor level at Central State University, Ohio. Joe worked in the computer science industry. He was an experienced IT professional with over a decade of experience. Joe was a VM ware Network Engineer. Working for companies such as: General Data Tech, Real Page Inc., EST Group, Citi Bank and Fujitsu. Joe was a devoted family man, to his extended family also. He coached elementary basketball teams. Like to drive fast and lived life abundantly.

Burial preparation entrusted to Evergreen Funeral Home, Dallas, Tx. Wake was held Thursday, August 29. Joe was returned to his hometown. Lewis Funeral Chapel directed the funeral, held at First Baptist Church, Fort Smith, AR on Saturday August 31. He was buried at Washington Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas. Arrangements under direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith.
