The Rev. Moten Cecil Vaughan, 91, of Springdale died Saturday at Fayetteville. He was born March 24, 1911, at Silverton, Texas, to John and Jessie Vaughan.
He was ordained by the Assemblies of God Church. He pioneered and pastored many churches throughout the country; most recently in San Angelo, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Nicholson Vaughan, one daughter, Lavelle Mauldin, and two granddaughters.
Survivors include two sisters, Irene Vardell of Clovis, N.M., and Gladys Brannon of Chillicothe, Texas; one brother, Hershel Vaughan of Hollis, Okla.; one son, Don C. Vaughan of Ben Wheeler, Texas; one daughter, Vernelle Hollingsworth of Springdale; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Temple Assembly of God in Fayetteville, with the Rev. Don Evans and the Rev. Randy Brown officiating. Burial will be at Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale. Family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
