Richard Monroe Barrett age 72, of Warren, Ark. died Saturday, July 12th in the Monticello Health Care Center. He was born, October 19, 1935 in Bradley County, a son of the late James Barrett and Lucy Beard Barrett.
He was self-employed for many years, worked for Trotter Towing in Greenville, Miss., a Mason, a United States Airforce Veteran and member of Central Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his spouse Carolyn Clanton Barrett and a sister Claudia Brown.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Barrett, Warren, Ark. 2 daughter's LouAnn Mitchell, Warren, Ark.; Leslee Mitchell and spouse Shawn, Benton, Ark. 2 step-sons, Shawn Barrett, Paragould, Ark, and Carol Wayne Lathan, Sheridan, Ark. 1 step-daughter Shannon Hughes, Little Rock, Ark. 1 brother Bernard Barrett and spouse Pat, Tucson, AZ;, 3 sisters Ruth Brown and spouse T.H., Monticello, Ark., Ruby Brown and spouse Larkin, Monticello, Ark. and Louise Bartlett, Morgan, TX. 4 grandchildren, Leah DeArmond, Carlye Mitchell, Taylor Barrett and Grant Barrett all of Warren, Ark. 3 step-grandchildren Clayton Barrett, Paragould, Ark. Tyler Lathan and Keri Lathan both of Sheridan, Ark.
Funeral services were 2:00PM Tuesday, July 15th Frazer's Chapel with Rev. Jerry Carter officiating. Paige Grider was organist and the Central Baptist Church Choir sang. Burial was in Moseley Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Roy Dayton Gardner, Donnie Copeland, Charlie Doss, Ben Garner, Frank Chancellor and Densil Stewart. Honorary pallbearers were Pat Ballentine, Bob Bennett, Travis Lee Beard, Niles Triplett, Bobby Joe Clements and Charlie Dunham.
