Purple Heart
Dr. Hope John Parta age 78 of Fort Smith passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010.
He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a Private in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War where he was wounded five times and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He later became a Commander in the Navy. He was a Physician in Fort Smith for 25 years, then for 12 years for the VA in Fayetteville and then retired to Fort Smith.
Graveside services were Friday, March 5, 2010 at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife Helen Ann Lynch Parta of the home; his son Dr. Mark Parta of Houston, Texas and a sister Nikki Ann Crockett of Covington, Louisiana.
Pallbearers were Al White, David Potts, Stan Gibbie, Keith Mason, Herbert Davis, and John Mayner.
