James Harry "Red" Martin, 73, of Redfield, Arkansas, was a man who loved this country. Red passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021. He was born January 11, 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late James Burrell Martin and Corrine Elizabeth "Bettie" Ridley Martin.
Red attended school at South Side High School in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He served in the United States Marine Corps from December 5, 1967 through April 16, 1969, serving his country in Vietnam. He retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal as a mechanical technician. Red was a member of the White Hall United Methodist Church. He was proud to be one of the founding members of American Legion Post #343. Red was a member of the Patriot Guards and led many "R-CAN-SAW Motorsickle Tours" across the United States.
He enjoyed motorcycling, traveling, grilling, whittling and time with his dog, Chuckle.
Red was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include one son, James Daniel Martin; grandchildren, James F., Daniel T., Jackson D., and Jada L.E. Martin; one expected great grandson; step-grandson, Andrew V. Cole; brother, William David "Bill" Martin (Laurel) of Chandler, Oklahoma; two sisters, Bernell Wilkins (Harold) of Arkoma, Arkansas and Margaret Ann Clousner of Maryland; along with nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by the love of his life of 20+ years, Nedra Kay Hopper; and her children, LeAndra Roberts, Tamara Shoulders and their families and numerous friends in the community, church and those he met throughout his travels.
Many thanks to the hospice teams at the VA and UAMS and friends who have prayed with him and for him and his loved ones.
