*Obituary

Tommy Hild resided in Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Friday, August 6, 2010 at his home.
He was born November 5, 1946 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Mike Hild and Louise Ellen (Dollar) Hild. He was 63 years old.

On August 6th, 2010, Tommy left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father and many many friends and family who were waiting on him. He fought so hard for over six years with the cancer, but never gave up. He got to enjoy so many things over those years that many people aren't granted. He was still able to drive his school bus, go camping, fishing, and continue to be the most loving husband, dad, papaw, and brother anyone could ask for. He had the joy of teaching the one year old Sunday School Class at First Lavaca for almost 15 years until he got sick. The kids he taught then are now graduating, getting married, and many still remember the bond he formed with them even at one years old. He drove the school bus for Lavaca schools for 24 years. He was a lineman and backhoe operator by trade and was considered the best by those he worked with. He loved to sing gospel music and spent many years at South Fort Smith FWB Church as choir director. He was a disabled Vietnam Army veteran, who proudly served his country for two years. He will be missed by so many people, adults and kids alike.

Funeral service was 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 10th at the Lavaca First Baptist Church, with his long time friend, Bro. Chase Carter conducting the service.
Interment was at Oak Valley Cemetery, (with military honors) south of Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Linda (Welch) Hild, of the home; one daughter, Stephanie Jensen and husband Lloyd of Lavaca; one son, Micheal W. Hild and wife Liz of Roland, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Devin, Jessieka, and Coulbey of Lavaca and Trent Powell of Roland; one sister, Shirley Turner and husband Bobby of Booneville; three brothers, Charles Hild and wife Cathy of Leesville, Louisiana, George Hild of Cedarville, and John Kopischke of Cedarville. Many nieces and nephews and all the kids that called him papaw, especially Brittany & Hunter Pence, Shayla & Gabe Smithson, Hailey Larson, and Jasmine Ibison. He was Mr. Tommy to all his bus kids and neighbor kids.

Pallbearers were Eddie Cole, Bill Westbrook, Joe Ballard, Kenny Lindsey, Jason Graham, and Neal Wade.

Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Pence, Dale Jetton, and the Lavaca School Bus Drivers.
