Rodney Edward Summers age 59 of El Dorado, AR went to meet his heavenly father on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at his home, following a brief illness. Rodney was born on June 1, 1958 to Rebecca "Ann" Summers and Charles Edward "Ed" Summers in Yokohama, Japan, where his father was currently stationed.
Rodney played for the Junction City Dragons in high school and was a member of the All Star team as well as the 1976 state championship team, where he played as lineman, # 75. Rodney participated and won the 1992 National Truck Driving Championship in Nashville, TN. He successfully drove two million miles accident free throughout his career working for Miller Transport, Ensco, El Dorado Paper Bag and currently Delek U.S. Rodney was an avid hunter and fisherman, he never met a stranger and especially enjoyed Saturday night fish fry's with family and a good game of rummy. He had many friends and will be missed by many. He was a big man with a big heart who was loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents, Ed and Ann Summers; sister, Rhonda Jolley and a brother, Robert Summers.
Survivors include; his wife and soul mate of some 30 odd years, Jeannie Tull Summers of El Dorado; daughter, Rebecca Welch and husband Christopher of El Dorado; his twin brother, Ricky Summers and wife Galina of Magnolia; brother, Carl Summers and wife Jennifer of Panama City Beach, FL; several nieces; one nephew and a host of extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Bailey Funeral Home in Junction City.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Junction City Church of Christ with Pastor, Don Ossman officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Junction City under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be; Berry Harrell, Allen Cates, David Primm, Rodney Cook, Lawrence Pepper and Waylon Ball. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bruce Hill, Mark Wilson and Justin Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Memory of Rodney to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital of Memphis, TN.
