March 27, 1946 - December 27, 2020

Clyde Lavelle Farrar, Jr., age 74 of Dubach, LA was born on March 27, 1946 in El Dorado, AR and passed away on December 27, 2020 at Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Bossier City, LA following a brief illness.

Clyde was a graduate of Dubach High School where he played both baseball and basketball. He joined the Ruston Fire Department at the age of 23 where he retired after 31 years with the rank of Assistant Chief. Clyde was an active lifetime member of the Louisiana State Fireman’s Association. He served as President of that organization from 1981 to 1982.

Clyde was happiest when he was with his family. He was quick to brag about all of their accomplishments. Clyde always had peppermint candy in his pocket for all of his grandchildren to “find”. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Dubach, LA. Next to faith and family, hunting and fishing were some of Clyde’s passions. If he was in search of the trophy buck or the largest catch of the day, he had found heaven on Earth.

Clyde was preceded in death by father: Clyde L. Farrar, Sr. and mother: Zada Trull Farrar.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 8 years: Kay Doss Farrar of Dubach, LA; three daughters: Allison and husband Jeff Nitz of Temple, TX, Amy and husband Brian Womack of Ruston, LA, Emily and husband Chris Rehkop of Malabar, FL; and seven grandchildren: Taylor Baskin Smith and husband Billy Kyle of Calhoun, LA, Connor Baskin and wife Zoey of Dubach, LA, Meghan Davis of Bernice, LA, Kelsey Davis of Nashville, TN, Brooks Avery Davis of Ruston, LA, Ryleigh Davis of Ruston, LA, and Jordyn Davis of Ruston LA; step son: Justin Landrum and wife Chelsey and daughter Harleigh Kay of Dubach, LA; brother: J. Phillip Farrar and wife June of Bulverde, TX.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Arthritis Foundation at www.arthritis.org

Clyde will be laid to rest next to his parents in Roselawn Cemetery in Junction City, AR in a private ceremony. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date due to Covid-19.
