Roy A. Johnston, Jr., 90, of Bellville, TX, died July 16, 2019. He was born May 12, 1929 to Roy A. Johnston, Sr. and Madeline Lucille Jordan Johnston in El Dorado, AR.
He was a 1948 graduate of El Dorado High School. Roy married Maxine Goodwin in 1950 at the First Christian Church in El Dorado. They were high school sweethearts and were married for 69 years. Roy worked for Oilwell/U.S. Steel for 30 years. After retiring in 1982, he and Maxine returned home to El Dorado. They lived in El Dorado until 2011, when they moved to Bellville to be near their daughters. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the First Christian Church.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Xury Paul Johnston; and sister, Eula Gunn.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Maxine Johnston, daughters, Janet Travis (Stuart), Rebecca Blackmon (Louis); grandsons, Wesley Blackmon (Audra), Garrett Blackmon (Lauren); step grandchildren, Emily Travis, Justin Travis (Vidya), Jason Blackmon; great grandson, Grant Blackmon; step great granddaughters, Phoenyx and Darby Blackmon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Burns Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
