September 27, 1859 - August 9, 1922
Dr. Arthur Hickman Sykes, one of the most prominent physicians and Masons in southern Arkansas, died at his home in Junction City early Thursday. He was born in Stewart county, Tennessee, September 27, 1859, and had practiced medicine in Arkansas for the past 33 years. He is survived by his wife, Cora Fennell Sykes, two daughters, Mrs. Frank Morrison of Detroit and Miss Helen Sykes, and one son, Billy Sykes of Junction City; three brothers, Henry A. Sykes of Prescott, Frank and Elizah Sykes of Tennessee and two sisters, Mrs. Wofford of Tennessee, and Mrs. Nilla Bell of Helena, Ark., and one grandchild, Helen Sykes Morrison of Detroit. Funeral services will be held at Junction City Friday. (Arkansas Democrat - August 10, 1922)
