George Larry Hoofman, 70, of Pleasant Plains, AR, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. He was born on May 22, 1947 in Searcy, AR to the late Virgil and Anna Jane Hoofman. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Randy Gene Hoofman, and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 20 years, Pat Hoofman, of Pleasant Plains; seven children: Lisa Williams of Memphis, TN; Lorie and Phillip Miller of Bryant, AR; Doug and Gwen Hoofman of Judsonia, AR; Brent and Candice Hoofman of Royal, AR; Meagan and Nick Dunn of Bradford, AR; Missy Fox of Batesville; Sissy Ford of Batesville; twenty two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ray Hoofman (Rose Mary) of Judsonia, Jerry Hoofman (Shirley) of Judsonia, Donnie Hoofman (Fern) of Searcy; several nieces and nephews, his beloved church family, and a host of friends.
Larry was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent, former Adult Sunday School teacher, and a dedicated servant for the Lord. He was a former welder’s helper with the 798 Pipeliner’s Union, a master carpenter and cabinet maker, but his favorite job was cattle farming.
Larry was known for his gentle nature, loving spirit, kind heart, selflessness, and his quick wit and sense of humor. He loved his family beyond measure, but His ultimate love was for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Larry leaves a legacy of faith, hope, and love that few ever obtain. He will forever be missed by all who knew him.
Those honored to serve as Pallbearers are Dean Nicholson, Troy Sweeten, James Finley, Phillip Lamb, Deon Smith, and Eddie Grammer. Honorary Pallbearer is Jimmy Sterling.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Seth Barnes, Dr. Phillip Pack, Dr. Raman Desikan and his Oncology Staff, and the entire staff of White River Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Mission Fund.
