February 10, 1934 - January 4, 2023
Charles Glenn Murphy, 88, of El Dorado passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 4, 2023 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.
Born February 10, 1934 in El Dorado he was the son of Felix Elton and Marguerite Harrell Murphy. He was lifelong member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He grew up as a man of many trades and became a longtime employee of Reed's Wrecking Yard where he eventually retired, but his greatest accomplishment was his family.
In his spare time, he loved listening to the Paul Harvey morning radio broadcast, rebuilding and restoring vehicles, owning and managing rental property, making fudge on his custom-built candy machine. He also enjoyed camping trips and time spent with family and friends.
Preceding him in death along with his parents was a son, Gary Lynn Murphy and his mother and father-in-law, Arnie and Wilma Burson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Barbara Lee Murphy, a sister Melba Ainsworth (Edward) all of El Dorado and a daughter, Cynthia Love (Paul) of Norphlet. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jon Talley (Tiffany), Michael Murphy (Rose) all of El Dorado and Brandon Michael (Melissa) of Spearsville, LA along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Young's Chapel with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark Staples officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
Mr. Murphy's family wishes to thank MCSA ICU, 3rd and 4th floor staff, Hudson Memorial Nursing Home, and the staff of Life Touch Hospice. A very special thank you to caregivers Gina and Sheena for their loving care during his time of illness.
