*Obituary

Flossie Irene Dennis, 76 of Higginson went to be with her Lord on July 31, 2007 at her home. Born June 9, 1931 in Searcy to John Foster Dennis and Floy Arbie (Reaves) Dennis. When she was born, her brother Sam who was approximately 20 1/2 months old, gave her the nickname "Babydoll" because he said she looked like a pretty babydoll. She never cared for her first name and always went by her middle name "Irene", but many family members continued to affectionately call her "Babydoll" throughout her life.

Irene was a hard worker and a retired employee of Timex Corporation in Little Rock. She loved and grew many beautiful plants and flowers. Like her parents and brother, she grew a large garden and home canned and froze lots of fruits and vegetables. She was a wonderful cook and baked many delicious cakes from scratch. She was an excellent seamstress and made her own clothes. She was "camera shy" and did not like to have her photo taken, so consequently she is missing from photos at many family events. She also loved kitty cats.

Irene never married. For all the many years she worked in Little Rock and had an apartment there, almost every weekend, (except when she had to work Saturdays), she came home to her parents and helped them. She was devoted to caring for them in their elderly years. She and her brother were close too.

Irene is survived by one brother, Johnnie "Sam" Dennis of Searcy; one nephew, Lonnie Dennis and his wife Tracy of Jacksonville; two great-nephews, Jonathan and Justin Dennis of Jacksonville and one great-niece, Jordan Dennis of Jacksonville, and a host of other family members who love and miss Irene. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents.

Graveside services August 2007 followed by Interment in Gum Springs Cemetery under the direction of Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.
