HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Donald Clyde Lenox, 79, of Hot Springs Village, finished his earthly journey on Thursday, March 23, 2017.

His death was a result of a stroke he suffered in May, 2015.

Don was born July 25, 1937, to Clyde Randolph and Mildred Miley Lenox in Brinkley. The family moved to Pine Bluff when he was a young boy, and he graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1955. He attended college for two years before enlisting in the Army Reserve, receiving an honorable discharge six years later. During this time, he also began his career with Cotton Belt Railroad (Southern Pacific Railroad). He served as a brakeman and a conductor during his 40-year career with them. He married Doris Hankins in 1961, and their marriage was blessed with two children, Dana and Randy.

After retiring, Don and Doris moved from Pine Bluff to Hot Springs Village. There, they had access to several golf courses to pursue their hobby. Those who ever played golf with Don know it wasn't so much a hobby as it was a love/hate relationship. He vowed to quit after most every round, but the competitor in him was always chasing that perfect game. He even brought a couple of his grandsons (Andrew and Max) into the world of golf. When he wasn't chasing a golf ball, Don could be found at the dining room table, working jigsaw puzzles. He and Doris enjoyed traveling, their bridge club and the many friends they had in both Pine Bluff and Hot Springs.

Don was predeceased by his parents, brother Gary and infant brother, Ronnie. He is survived by Doris Hankins Lenox, his wife of 55 years; and his sister, Thelma Newby. Other survivors include daughter Dana Lenox Greeson (Greg); and son Randy Lenox. Grandchildren William Lenox, Joseph Lenox, Max Lenox, Amanda Reep (Casey), Andrew Freeman, Joe Greeson (Megan) and Sarah Bearden (Alex). Great-grandchildren Kerrigan and Kaidan Lenox and Landry Greeson.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday (reception to follow) at Barcelona Road Baptist Church, located at 390 Barcelona Road, Hot Springs Village, AR.
