BELLA VISTA — Raymond Albert Gilman, 79, of Bella Vista died June 6, 2005, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville. He was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Providence, R.I., to Albert and Aline Malegue Gilman. He grew up and was educated in Rhode Island. He was a graduate of Bryant College in Providence with a degree in accounting and of Syracuse University in New York with a degree in business administration. He married Kathleen T. Garvin, on Sept. 1, 1956. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired as a manager of share holder operations from Chrysler Corp. in 1981. While living in New Jersey, he was vice president of Registrar Transfer Co. He lived in Florida and them moved to Bella Vista in 1992. He was commander of Bella Vista American Legion Post 341 and was a 4th-degree Knights of Columbus and a member of Bella Vista Cemetery Board.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Gilman of Bella Vista; four daughters, Kathleen Sneckenberg and husband William of Chicago, Michelle Gilman of Chicago, Barbara Gilman of Folsom, Calif., Beth Teerlink and husband David of Chicago; two brothers, Francis Gilman of Spring Hill, Fla., Henry Gilman of Winter Haven, Fla.; one sister, Elizabeth Carey of Wickford, R.I.; two grandchildren, Christine and Caroline Sneckenberg.

A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday at Bella Vista Funeral Home. A Mass of resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Andrew Smith officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Bernard Endowment Fund, 1 St. Bernard Lane, Bella Vista, 72715, or to the Veteran Wall of Honor in Bella Vista.
