Sammie Louis Tippit, 77 of Van Buren died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in a local nursing home.
He was retired engineer at Rheem Manufacturing having worked there for 25 years, a longtime resident of Crawford County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Cena (Howard) Tippit, one brother & one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Cholly (Green) Tippit of the home; two daughters, Sherry Eminger & Laura Mercier both of Williamina, OR; four sons, Rod Tippit of Georgia, Allen Tippit of Spiro, Richard Tippit, Lorne Tippit; two stepsons, Travis Penson of Fayetteville, Marshall Penson of Van Buren; one brother, Jimmy Tippit of Cedarville; 15 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Tippit, Michael Tippit, Derwin Gist, Gary Gist, Jeff Christy, Raymond Riveria.
Funeral service will be Friday February 24th 2012 at 1:00pm at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery.
