Memorial Gardens Cemetery
Garland County,
Arkansas

AIRMAN THIRD CLASS US Air Force
February 7, 1939 - August 19, 2016

Gary J. Boiger, 77, of Malvern passed peacefully August 19, 2016. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, the only child to the late John and Dolores Boiger. He joined the Air Force and the Detroit Police Department. He was a decorated career law enforcement officer, receiving the Medal of Valor, and retiring in 1986 as Detective Sergeant. After moving to Arkansas he briefly re-entered the workforce designing security for the new Arkansas School for the Math and Sciences, Lake Hamilton Resort, and Belvedere Country Club in the mid 90s. He also served as Reserve Deputy and Constable for Garland County Sheriff's Department and was a proud member of the Edelweiss German-American Club of Hot Springs. The only thing Gary loved more than being outdoors hunting or watching sports on tv, was being with his family. Michael, David, and Joey have memories of their grandfather, his stories and lessons to guide them as they become men. John Boiger and Kim Greathouse will miss their father, a man of few words and a hero in their hearts. But missing Gary most will be Laura, his wife, who shared with him more than 55 years of love and family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society at American Cancer Society 901 N University Little Rock, AR 72207 or a charity of your choice.
