June 18, 1898 - November 19, 1943
John Chester Shurley was born June 18, 1898, the son of J.W. and Ella Nelson Shurley.
He passed from this life on November 19, 1943 at his home of a gunshot wound to the face, inflicted by his wife. He was 45 years, 5 months and 1 day old.
He was a Conductor for the Missouri Pacific Rail Road.
He was survived by his wife, Lora Shurley; his Father J.W. Shurley and his brother Bill Shurley of Sulphur, Oklahoma.
Funeral service was held at Ocker Chapel with the Rev. Sherman Kirkpatrick and Rev. W.B. Miller officiating.
Masonic service was by the men of Lodge #6, the Blue Lodge and Scottish Rite bodies of Fort Smith.
Interment was at Gracelawn Cemetery.
