Louis F. Lorenz, 88, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a member of First Christian Church in Fort Smith, deacon emeritus at First Christian Church and served on the property committee at First Christian Church in Fort Smith and the Fort Smith and Poteau Camera Clubs. Mr. Lorenz was co-owner of Lorenz and Vaughn and was a world traveler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ruth Ann Lorenz; his sister, Margaret Lorenz Pachl; and his brother, Florian Lorenz. Service will be 11 a.m. today at First Christian Church in Fort Smith with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith. He is survived by his wife, Billie Lorenz of the home; two nephews, Sam and Mike Lorenz of Fort Smith; a stepdaughter, Joy Schichtl of Conway; a stepson, John L. Awbrey of Van Buren; six grandchildren and and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Phillip Plunkett, Waylon Jones, Bob Bishop, Allen Hales, H.C. Varnadore and John. I. Awbrey. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons and elders of First Christian Church and Jess Huff and Leon Robbins. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 3600 Free Ferry, Fort Smith, AR 72901. Times Record Online.
