Hovert “Pete” Berry, 79 of Van Buren passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in a local nursing home.
He was born in Hitchita, Oklahoma to John W. and Beulah (Browning) Berry.
He graduated from Van Buren High School, Class of 1955 and the same year joined the Air National Guard. He was retired from Rheem Manufacturing Company in Fort Smith from the material control department and an past Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 22. He attended City Heights Methodist Church in Van Buren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lina Lee Parker; three brothers, Bill, W.C. and Brownie Berry
Funeral services will be 10 AM, Monday, March 21, 2016 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren with military honors under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara (Neely) Berry of the home; one son Chris Berry of Van Buren and his fiancé, Karen and her children, Elizabeth, David, Bryan; two grandsons, Jacob and Jaxon; one sister Joyce Shannon of Marshall, TX; many nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be VBHS Classmates of 1955 and 1957.
