July 30, 1935 - May 11, 2015
Joe Maurice Ford, 79 of Junction City, AR, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock. He was born July 30, 1935, to Maurice Eugene and Mabel Ozelle Sullivan Ford in Chicot, AR.
He was a graduate of Junction City High School and the University of Arkansas. Joe was a poultry farmer and a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church. Joe was a notorious practical joker, producer of the best watermelons in south Arkansas and the youngest Arkansas State Champion Tractor Driver (1948).
Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Gloria Ford; two brothers, Bobby and Wayne Ford.
Survivors include his two daughters, Stephanie May, Joanna Kay Waller both of Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Joseph Jeremy May, Ronald Aaron May, Cameron May; and three great grandchildren, Kennedy May, Savanna May, and Aiden May.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Olive Branch United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Olive Branch Methodist Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the family residence at 4001 Iron Mountain Road in Junction City, AR.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Ford, Paul Ford, Aaron May, Joe May, Aiden May and Gary Powledge.
Memorials may be made to the Union County Animal Protection Society, 1000 Sunset Rd., El Dorado, AR 71730.
