February 26, 1897 - February 1961
Services for John Hicks, 64, of Mountainburg, Arkansas, owner of the Mountainburg Drug Store, were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Mountainburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Paul Mennenoeh and the Rev. Barry Walker officiating. Burial was at Vaught Cemetery with masonic rites under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Mr. Hicks was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Mountainburg, The Clear Creek Masonic Lodge No. 332, and the American Legion. He was also a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, charter member of the Mountainburg Lions Club and a World War I veteran. Mr. Hicks died Friday morning after a short illness.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; three sons, W. John and Dr. R. Hicks, both of St. Louis Mo. and E. W. Hicks of New York City; a sister-in-law, Mrs. S. Hicks of Poteau, OK; and five grandchildren.
