Age 84
The Rev. J. L. Layton died Sunday morning at the home of his daughter on Beech St. Born in Calhoun, La., he was the son of William and Ida Layton. A resident of Wesson for 64 years, he had been a member of the Beulah Grove Baptist Church for 62 years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Vinia Layton; a daughter, Mrs. Elnora Collins of El Dorado; and a brother, David P. Layton of Port Arthur, Tex. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Beulah Grove Baptist Church in Wesson. Burial will be in Lott Burgy Cemetery under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.
