December 10, 1930 - January 16, 2022

Howard Bruce Duckworth, 91 of Smithville, passed away January 16, 2022, in the Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.

Born December 10, 1930, in Memphis, TN; son of the late, Warren and Ruby Smith Duckworth. Howard was united in marriage to the late, Dolores Roush Duckworth on June 15, 1954.

He served our country in the U.S. Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean War.

He worked as an Autobody repairman and mechanic. When he was younger, he enjoyed playing golf, bowling and watching old westerns. His passion and favorite past time activity was to play the Guitar and sing. He played old county music in his spare time and traveled the south playing in many different locations. Later in years, he played at the Old Union and local nursing homes, and with the band Spring River Boys. Howard loved spending time with all his grandkids and had unique and special nicknames for each one.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Dolores in 2019, two daughters; Susan Clark and Katherine Sims; one granddaughter, Laura Clark; one brother, Willard Duckworth; and two sisters, Pauline (Harold) Woodyard and Glenda (Harlen) Jones.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna (Tony) Cable of Paragould; one son-in-law, Richard Clark of Salem; six grandchildren, Lacie Pharis, Joshua Sims, Brian (Rae Ann) Cable, Nichole (Jack) Turpen, Alissa (Nick) Arnold, and Kimberly Sims (Travis Fredricksen); ten great grandchildren, Ashley (Sam) Pope, Haley, Charles, and Douglas Pharis, Penny Turpen, Savanna and Kayde Cable, Addie and Oliver Arnold, and Evan Fredricksen; one great great grandchild, Hudson Pope; one sister, Anna B. (John) Ruscin of Sullivan, IL: one sister in law, Laquetia Duckworth of Mountain Home; a special cousin, Wayne Smith of Pocahontas; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Imboden Church of Christ with Bro. Bill Wheeler officiating. Grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Oak Forrest Cemetery in Black Rock.

Visitation will be from 10 A.M. till 11 A.M. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Imboden Church of Christ, Children’s Home in Paragould or the Spinal Bifida Association.
