BELLA VISTA — John Francis (Jake) DeLany, 67, of Bela Vista, Ark., died Feb. 11, 2016. He was born May 4, 1948, to Michael and Beatrice (Schroeder) DeLany in LaPorte, Ind.

Moving to Eagle, Wis., at age 11 after the death of his father, John attended Saint Theresa Catholic Elementary School, Catholic Memorial High School and Mukwonago High School.

He was united in marriage with Nancy Kay Lutz on Nov. 28, 1970. Together they built their life and family always remembering to enjoy the moment.

John was retired from Cooper Power Systems (formerly RTE) in Waukesha, Wis., where he was employed for 35+ years. It was there that he earned the nickname Jake. That nickname stayed with him throughout the rest of his life.

In 2010 Jake and Nan moved to Bella Vista, Ark., from Waukesha, Wis., and Jake was active in several golf groups. He also enjoyed his weekly games of Bias Bowling. Potluck and games on Tuesday night was a must for Jake, and he loved making food creations to share with the group.

He was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Monica SanMiguel.

He is survived by his wife, Nan of Bella Vista; son, Michael of Waukesha, Wis.; mother, Beatrice of Waukesha, Wis.; sister, Margaret of Denver, Colo.; sister, Helen of Green Bay, Wis.; sister, Patricia of Roselle, Ill.; brother, Peter (Jill) of Johnson Creek, Wis., and sister, Kathryn of Neenah, Wis. He is further survived by mother-in-law, Maryette Lutz of Fort Atkinson, Wis.; sister-in-law, Connie (Mike) Polzin of Fort Atkinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, along with other family and friends.

Jake made friends very easily and would like to be remembered for his dry sense of humor, quick wit, and willingness to help others.

Per his wishes no services will be held. Jake was an avid reader and requested that memorials be made to the Bella Vista Public Library. Arrangements by Epting Funeral Home of Bella Vista. Condolences: www.eptingfuneralhome.webs.com.
