Bernice M. Geving, age 96, of New Richmond passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at The Deerfield. She grew up in Knapp, WI and attended UW-River Falls for 2 years. Bernice met Wesley Geving through his younger sister Jane and in 1941 they were married. The couple lived New Richmond and raised their 6 sons there as well. Bernice was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She also worked as a cook at A&W, Gambles Hardware and owned and operated a restaurant for a short while. In retirement, her and Wes moved to Flippin, Arkansas. She did child care there and over the years cared for over 100 children. She finally “hung” that up when she was 85. While in Arkansas, she was very active at Wesley United Methodist Church and enjoyed working in her garden. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; sons, Sidney and Mark; grandson, John; daughter-in-law, Carmen. She is survived by her sons, Jack (Shari), Hank (Barbara), Quentin; Jerry (Barb); 17 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. A memorial gathering was held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 1-3 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral Home (112 W 3rd St.) in New Richmond. Private interment will take place at a later date in Mountain Home, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Deerfield. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
