Mar 11, 1944 - June 8, 2015
*Obituary
Donnie Lee Burks died shortly before midnight, June 8, 2015, surrounded by loved ones as his spirit moved on. He was born on March 11, 1944 in the Beryl, Arkansas to the late Elmer and Mildred Burks.
Life is a road of adventure taken by those brave enough to embrace its ups and downs. Donnie Lee Burks certainly did just that. On any given day, for those willing to listen, Don would share stories and reflections from his childhood with Gene, Jimmy (James), Sue (Norma) and Ron (Ronald). Don's intense admiration and love could easily be understood as he spoke of his mother's cooking and wisdom (Mildred Olene Haggard Burks); or his father's insatiable work ethic, quick wit and humor (Elmer Leroy Burks).
A bit of a sentimental softy, with a quiet exterior --
When Don made friends he made unconditional friendships that lasted his entire lifetime. Four of his closest friends are his sons: Ronald Floyd Burks, Phillip Leroy Burks, Elmer Lee Burks and Donnie Lee Burks Jr. He celebrated each of their achievements big and small. Don worried constantly as he hoped for their futures and he did his best to be their constant.
Don is survived by his wife, Virginia Partridge Burks, his sons, Ronald Floyd Burks (b. in Vilonia), Phillip Leroy Burks (b. in Greenbrier) (Tina), Elmer Lee Burks (b. in Russellville) and Donnie L. Burks Jr. (b. in Conway); stepson, Eddie and stepdaughter, Lori; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Leroy and Mildred Olene Haggard Burks, his grandson, Jesse Leroy Burks and his siblings Gene L. Burks and Ronald L. Burks.
Cremation arrangements through Roller McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, Arkansas; A memorial service will be held 5 p.m.,Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 50 West Pumping Station Road, Conway, Arkansas.
