George E. Aunspaugh, 80, of Hot Springs, died Sunday, May 15, 2011, of complications of Alzheimer’s.
He was born January 30, 1931 in Pleasant Plains, Arkansas to Othar and Sarah Aunspaugh. A Korean War Veteran, he was an accountant with the U.S. Forest Service and retired as Head of Budget and Finance for the Ouachita National Forest. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Hot Springs where he served as deacon, Sunday School director and church treasurer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Revon, and two sisters, Maxine and Patricia.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan; daughter, Georgie Crihfield of Hot Springs; son, Allan Aunspaugh and his wife Anne of Liberty, MO; four grandchildren, Michael Crihfield and wife Lindsey of Hot Springs, Rachel Aunspaugh of Washington, DC, Emily Aunspaugh and Alyssa Aunspaugh of Liberty, MO; 2 great-granddaughters Sydney and Kennedy Crihfield of Hot Springs; a brother, J.O. Aunspaugh, Jr. of Searcy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, May 16 from 6-8 pm at Gross Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be at 2 pm, May 17 at Gross Funeral Home with Dr. John McCallum officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or Arkansas Hospice.
