HINDSVILLE — Ray Edgar Chapin, 83, of Hindsville died Jan. 14, 2005, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Sapulpa, Okla., to Gardie Milford and Lola Bell Waldroop Chapin. He has installed signs and neon signs for many large corporations. He moved to the area 30 years ago from Claremore, Okla. He was a past member of the Northwest Arkansas Gated Horse Club. He was preceded in death by one son, Carl Chapin, on Nov. 1, 1997.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude "Trudy' Chapin of the home, to whom he was married April 15, 1969; three sons, Ronald Ray Chapin of Marysville, Wash., Ronald Anthony Chapin of Rio Rancho, N.M., and John Thad Chapin of Wenatchee, Wash.; five daughters, Darlene Roduner of Albuquerque, N.M., Vickie Arlene Rizzo of Albuquerque, Faye Elizabeth Hendrick of Skiatook, Okla., Connie Jean Nystrom of Hindsville and Patsy Schneider of Los Ranchos, N.M.; two brothers, Bill Chapin of Catoosa, Okla., and Donald Chapin of Tulsa, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m, today at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with burial in Friendship Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 92 Sunbridge, Fayetteville.
