Mountain Home, Arkansas - A Memorial Service for Verne McKean Shissler, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 3:00 pm, Friday, October 5, 2018, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Bill Beach officiating.

Verne passed away October 2, 2018, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 83. He was born May 14, 1935, in Elmhurst, Illinois, the son of Verne and Marie Haeckner Shissler, Sr. He married Helen Cantrell on April 26, 1987 at Bellefonte, Arkansas and was a painter. Verne was an Arkansas National Guard Member. Verne lived in Mountain Home since moving from Illinois in 1977. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid golfer.

Verne is survived by his wife, Helen Shissler of Mountain Home, AR; son, Michael (Quindy) Shissler of Bull Shoals, AR; three daughters, Robin (Randy) Killian of Mountain View, AR, T.J. (Rene) Perrigo of Flippin, AR and Camille McKee of Joplin, MO; stepson, Chad (Lisa) Sanford of West Fork, AR; stepdaughter, Lyndsey Stone of Boston, MA; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and sister, Judith (John) Franzen of Mountain Home, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Kufer and grandchild, Jody Killian.

Burial will be in the Burnt Schoolhouse Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.

Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services - Mountain Home, Arkansas.
