Freddie E.R. Flanagan, age 84, of Arkana, Arkansas passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 13, 1926 at Lone Rock, Arkansas to Epton Roosevelt and Lillie Viola (Perry) Flanagan.
Fred is survived by two brothers: Gene and Benny Joe, three sisters: Louise, Lorraine and Dot, five children, several grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, many cousins of Arkansas, including the Goforth family of Arkana where he resided. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Howard, Norby and Tommy.
Fred served as a Seaman 2nd class in WWII, where he fought battles at Okinawa, Iwo Jima and the Philippine Liberation. He was a founding member of the UDT.
A celebration of life service will be Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Old Arkana Schoolhouse. A graveside memorial service will follow at Arkana Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
Arrangements are By Twin Lakes Cremation Society and Funeral Home.
