Obituary: Bradford Memorial Funeral Home
Riley McKenna Martin, 12, of Bradford went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Fred Henderson; and her uncle Jimmie Don Henderson.
Riley was scheduled to begin seventh grade at Bradford Middle School on Aug. 19. She excelled in schoolwork at Bradford Elementary School. While there she was an honor student and proud member of Phi Beta Kappa. Always active and a constant competitor, Riley was a key contributor to a successful season with the sixth-grade girls basketball team. Their unselfish team play and commitment resulted in second place at the district girl's tournament at Harding University.
Riley had many friends and family who deeply loved her. She rejoiced in all aspects of her life. Her energy and enthusiasm for her family and friends will forever be remembered by the lives she touched and positively impacted. Riley was a child of God and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her mother, Robin Pyle and husband Mike; her father, Craig Martin; one grandfather, Pepper Martin; three grandmothers, Vivian Henderson, Karen Martin and Kitty Martin; great-grandmother, Louise Cagle; one brother, Jack Pyle; one sister, Tabitha Pyle; four aunts, Etta Pate, Angie Lock, Kelly Rutledge and Audrey Henderson; six uncles, Gary Martin, Chad Martin, William Henderson, Dowayne Henderson, Eric Pate and Freddy Henderson; 14 cousins, Trista, Lanie, Aaron, Austin, Tyler, Kyle, Jacob, Garrett, Ashley, Casey, Clint, Whitney, Hannah and Levi; and her best friend, Tori.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Bradford High School Gymnasium. Interment will follow in Hickmon Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Bradford Funeral Home.
