Springdale Man Killed
BRYAN, Texas - a Springdale man, Ronnie Joe Mabry, 32, address, was shot to death at 5 p.m. Thursday on a sidewalk in front of a bar here.
Bryan police said witnesses told them Mabry and another man had been involved in a scuffle inside the bar. They went outside and the other man went to his car, obtained a .38 pistol and shot Mabry four times.
The other man was taken into custody. His name was not released pending filing of charges in connection with the slaying. Police said Mabry and the suspect had not met prior to the fight.
Officers said Mabry had no identification on his person. He was identified by companions who went to the bar with him. Mabry had been in Bryan about three weeks, authorities said. He was working as an oil well driller.
Mabry was born Oct. 28, 1945, at Fayetteville, the son of Major and Edna Smart Mabry.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Patricia Lewis Mabry of the home; one son and two daughters, Rodney Mabry, Rhonda Mabry and Denise Mabry all of the home; his parents of Lowell; and one brother, Wayne Mabry of Lowell.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Sisco Chapel.

Ronnie Joe Mabry, 32, of Springdale, died Thursday at Bryan, Texas. He was born Oct. 28, 1945, at Fayetteville.
He was an oil field drillman.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Lewis Mabry; one son, Rodney Mabry; and two daughters, Rhonda and Denise Mabry, all of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Major Mabry of Lowell; and one brother, Wayne Mabry of Lowell.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Regular Baptist Church with Rev. Johnnie Sisemore officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Chapel of Springdale.
