July 20, 1896 - June 19, 1968
Funeral services for James Henry "Jim" Griffith, 71, of 3116 E. Main St., who died Wednesday in a local hospital, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gary Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Mr. Griffith was interested in Boy Scout work and was active in the scouting programs. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Stella Mowery Griffith of El Dorado; a son, James W. Griffith of Bearden; a sister, Mrs. Ida Fotley of Liberty, Mo., and a half-sister, Mrs. Isabelle Cochran of Carterville, Okla. The body will remain at the mortuary until one hour before services. Memorials may be made for the Union County Fair Building Fund in care of Eddie Adams at the First National Bank. Active pallbearers will be Lonnie L. Herring, M. C. Ritter, Cecil Munday, Eddie Adams, Victor Dumas and H. E. Frisby. Honorary pallbearers will be the employes of the Arkansas Louisiana Gas co., the board of directors of the Union County Livestock and Poultry Association, the members of the National Association of Professional Baseball League, the board of directors of the Arkansas Fire Management Association, Dr. I. G. Fincher, Sr. and Dr. Larkin Wilson. (El Dorado Times - June 21, 1968)
