Evelynne Marie “Evey” OLSON

Mountain Home Cemetery
Baxter County,
Arkansas

January 5, 1916 - August 6, 2012

Evelynne (Evey) Olson was born January 5, 1916, in Chicago, Illinois, to Christian and Maude (Brown) Olson. She worked as a secretary in a real estate and insurance office until she, her mother, and a friend, Elsie Swatek, moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas, in 1973. She and Elsie loved to travel; Evey being the driver. Their prime objective was nature and birds. She was a founding member of the Friends of the Library, founded in 1981. Her lifelong love of libraries was evidenced by her countless volunteer hours at the library. She was well known for making the artistic name tags for every library meeting - having them coordinate with the speaker's topic. She cleverly recycled greeting cards, making them into new cards. The proceeds from over 10,000 cards that she created were donated to the Friends of the Library. Evey will be missed by her good friends, Doyle Hammack, Polly Millhouser, Mary Lou Duseberg, Robbyn Abel, and her many other library friends. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Kirby and Family Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with Reverend David Gadbaw officiating. Burial will be private at Mountain Home Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Donald W. Reynolds Library. Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
