Mr. James Thomas Holt, 89, of Bradford, departed this life Thursday, March 28, 2019 at home surrounded by family. He was born November 4, 1929 in Augusta, Arkansas to the late John and Margrette (Clutter) Holt.
On March 23, 1950, he married Audrey (Hendricks) Holt. On April 16, 1951, James went to work for the Missouri / Pacific Railroad and worked for them for over 40 years. He was a member of the Crossroads Church of Christ. During the spring and summertime, he enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching the airplanes in the sky and waving at the neighbors going by. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He always planted a big garden and shared his crop with his neighbors and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margrette (Clutter) Holt; one great-great grandson, James Rogers; four brothers, Chester Holt, Billy Pyle, Richard Pyle, and Eugene Pyle; and three sisters, Hattie Lee, Alice Ballard, and Katherine Archey.
James is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Audrey ( Hendricks) Holt; three daughters, Beverly McCall and husband Clinness “Mac” of Bradford, Barbara Wade and husband Johnnie of Dekalb, Texas, and Bernadeen Smith and husband Darell of Bradford; one son, Wayne Holt and wife Pam of Bradford; nine grandchildren, Clay McCall and wife Cheryl of Bald Knob, Jill Wise and husband Neil of Bradford, Jesse McCall and wife Melaine of Bradford, Wendy Salinas and husband Phillip of Dekalb, Texas, Jonathan Wade and wife Christy of Malta, Texas, Mark Dunn and wife Melissa of Bradford, Laura Burress and husband Ricky of Perkins, Oklahoma, Travis Holt of Bradford, and Greg Holt and wife Amy of Bradford; twenty-three great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Those honored to serve as Pallbearers are Clay McCall, Jesse McCall, Johnathan Wade, Mark Dunn, Travis Holt, Greg Holt, and Darell Smith.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 5:30-9:00 pm at Bradford Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be at the Crossroads Church of Christ, Monday, April 1, 2019 at 11:00 am. with Bro. Shane Blevins officiating. Interment will follow at Smith Cemetery.
