Ronald Edward Smead, 77 of Kingsland died Friday June 14, 2019. Born October 24, 1941 at Harrell, he was a son of the late Claud Duvall Smead and Jetta Vivian Brown Smead. He served in the Air Force, Army, and National Guard and was a retired school administrator.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Judy Suzanne Smead; a brother, Dale Smead; four sisters, Hazel Smead, Mildred Hardesty, Mary Settlemoir, and Carmen Baker.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra Smead of Kingsland; two sons, Donis Smead and wife Missy of Leola, Captain Smead and wife Jenny of Fordyce; two daughters, Deann Smith and husband Dewayne of Newport, Renee McKelvin and husband Mike of Camden; three sisters, Dean Hardesty of Kokomo, IN, Frances Doss of Clinton, Janell Johnston of Spring, TX; twelve grandchildren, Cathrine Phillips (Cathy Sue), Kreg Smead (Zach), Katelyn Smead (Toodlums), Curt Smead (Turkey), Dayla Curry (Sock), Denver Smith (Kool-Aid), Dawsyn Smith (Co-op), Mitchell McKelvin (Catfish), Clayton McKelvin (Tom T), Bradley McKelvin (Jughead), Ross Smead (Roscoe), Case Smead (Rooster); five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Dillard and Rev. Rick Bolin officiating. Burial will follow at Earnest Cemetery. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
