SHIBLEY, John - John Shibley was born January 22, 1849 at Carlysle, New York. He was the son of Samuel P. and Mary Elizabeth Shibley. At the age of six years he came with his parents to Adair county, Missouri, at which place he grew to manhood. He was engaged in agricultural pursuits for a number of years. At the age of 34 he entered Rush Medical College, Chicago where he graduated in the class of 1886. The following June he was united in marriage to Josephine Jones. To this union there were born two children, Maun Lillian and Ralph Emerson. He practiced medicine for a period of 30 years, during which time he was also interested in banking and agricultural pursuits. He became a member of the Masonic Order when a young man and advanced in the work to the 32nd degree. He lived a devoted and prayerful life. He united with the Congregational church within the last year where he took an active interest in christian work. He was ever charitable and kind to all and devoted to his family. He departed this life November 25, 1925. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Josephine Shibley; two children, Maun L. Wilson of Gentry, Ark. and Ralph E. Shibley of Guthrie, Okla. and two grandchildren, John Stewart Wilson and John L. Shibley; two brothers, David H. of Montana and George of Green City, Mo. Funeral services were held from the Congregational church Friday morning, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Hughes, assisted by the Rev. Dickey and burial was made in the City Cemetery by the Masons.
