When Joseph Webster Gilbert was born in February 1873 in Union City, Arkansas, his father, John, was 22 and his mother, Effie, was 22. He married Jennie Charles and they had one son together. He then married Ollie Bell Hinson and they had 14 children together. He died in 1951 in USA at the age of 75, and was buried in West Midlands, England.
