Jack N Thicksten, 56 years old, widely known physician of Alma, Arkansas died Monday morning, July 23, 1973 in a local hospital. A native of St Paul, Arkansas, he was born March 4, 1917, the son of James E and Belle Bowen Thicksten of Alma, Arkansas. He was president of Thicksten Enterprises, past member of Alma City Council, member of the Alma Planning Commission and director of the Academy of Family Practitioners.
A 1951 graduate of the University of Arkansas Medical School, he was a member of Phi Chi Medical Fraternity and was the Colonel Commander of the 501st Medical Service Flight at Little Rock, Air Force Base, retiring June 17 of this year after 20 years service. He was a member of the United Methodist church and Board of Stewards of Alma, a 15 years member and past president of the Lions Club, member of the World Medical Association, Arkansas Medical Association and Aerospace Medical Association and vice president of Fort Smith Chapter of Air Force Association.Survivors was his wife; two sons; a daughter; his mother; and an aunt.
